Smart Stacks: The Tools I’d Choose If I Were Starting Today

When I built my first startup, I wasted money on the wrong tools. It felt like I needed everything: the premium plan, the shiny add-on, the enterprise system that made me feel like I was “doing it right.”

Truth is, most of it slowed me down.

If I were starting again today, here’s the stack I’d actually build — simple, scrappy, and focused on growth:

1. Website & Storefront: Shopify

Easy, quick, and powerful enough for scale. You don’t need a bespoke website at day one. Focus on selling, not building.

2. Email & CRM: Mailchimp or Klaviyo

You need to own your audience from day one. Social platforms come and go, but your email list is an asset you control.

3. Project Management: Trello or Asana

Forget the complicated “all-in-one” ops tools. Pick something you’ll actually use. For me, it’s simple task boards and accountability.

4. Analytics: Google Analytics + Hotjar

You don’t need endless data, just the basics: who’s visiting, what they’re clicking, where they’re dropping off.

5. Ads & Testing: Meta Ads Manager

Most founders overcomplicate paid media. Start simple. Run small tests. Learn quickly. Don’t outsource too soon.

6. AI Support: ChatGPT

From drafting copy to generating ideas, it saves hours of brain bandwidth. It’s like having a co-founder who never sleeps.

7. Decision-Making: Nudge

This is the tool I wish I’d had earlier. Instead of drowning in dashboards, Nudge pulls your data together and tells you what to do next—where to focus, what to tweak, and how to grow without wasting time or budget.

If I’ve learned one thing, it’s this: tools don’t build your business. You do.

But the right stack makes the work lighter, smarter, and faster.
